Saariaho Festival The Hague: October 6 – 8

One of the leading composers of our time will visit The Hague in October.

From October 6 to 8 Kaija Saariaho will be the central focus of a three-day festival in The Hague. The New European Ensemble, which initiated the festival, will perform a large selection of the composer’s works.

For the festival the New European Ensemble is collaborating with all of The Hague’s most important musical institutions. These include the Residentie Orkest (Hague Philharmonic), the Royal Conservatoire, the Dr. Anton Philipszaal and the Korzo Theater. The final day of the festival on October 8 will also be the 21st edition of Dag in de Branding, The Hague’s local festival for new music.
The festival will mark Saariaho’s first visit to The Hague where she will play a pivotal role in the festival. The composer will give master-classes and workshops and participate in post and pre-concert discussions.
