Kaija Saariaho honoured with Domain Privé series

Cité de la Musique has honoured Kaija Saariaho with one of its renowned Domain Privé series. Cité de la Musique is best known for its unique programming covering all musical genres and previous focuses of this prestigious series have included John Adams, Anne Sofie von Otter and Marianne Faithful, among others.Starting on April 18, a series of five concerts exploring her music will be presented featuring many of Saariaho’s long term collaborators including Anssi Karttunen, Meta4, Avanti! and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. Audiences will hear several Saariaho country premieres including Emilie Suiteco-commissioned by the Cité de la Musique and performed by Barbara Hannigan.Programmed alongside her music are works of other celebrated Finnish composers including Jean Sibelius, Paavo Heininen – her former teacher, and Lotta Wennäkoski – her student.For more details about the concerts and venues, including ticket sales please visit the Cité de la Musique website.
