D’OM LE VRAI SENS

On Friday October 22 The BBC Symphony Orchestra celebrates 80 years at the forefront of British music with a concert conducted by Principal Guest Conductor David Robertson and guaranteed to show it at its very best. Virtuoso Finnish clarinettist Kari Kriikku performs his compatriot Kaija Saariaho‘s new clarinet concerto, D’OM LE VRAI SENS, in a version staged by theatre and opera director Peter Sellars, while vibrant percussionists Owen Gunnell and Oliver Cox – O Duo – perform a new work by Stephen McNeff. The concert opens with music by Wagner that featured in the BBC SO’s very first concert and Stravinsky’s masterpiece The Rite of Spring. The concert will also feature film footage of Chief Conductors past and present.
